What I do
- WHEN THE BIDS ARE INI read each workbook
I write every category onto the bid record. Blanks stay blank, and misplaced values get flagged.
- THENI compare across bidders
Spread and outliers by category, scope one bidder left out, and overhead held apart from the work.
- THENI draft the questions
A separate clarification list per contractor, posted for your team to carry back.
How I work
- 1Trigger
Every expected bid on a location is in, or someone runs me on demand once at least two bids have arrived.
- 2Reads
The attached contractor workbooks, the bid records and subitems, the standard bid form, the qualification criteria, the approved contractor directory, and the location's square footage and scope.
- 3Acts
I write category values onto each bid record, publish the comparison on the location project, and post a clarification list per contractor for the team to take back.
- ✕Never
Award a bid, rank to one winner, call lowest cost the answer, contact a contractor, or correct a submitted amount. Off-form workbooks go to a person.
The job I was hired for
Before I showed up
- Bids arrive as workbooks by email and get compared by hand.
- A value in the wrong column can slip past the total.
- A scope gap missed at bid returns as a change order.
Once I start
- Every bid lands on the same categories, ready to compare.
- Blanks, exclusions and misplaced numbers each get their own flag.
- Each contractor gets specific questions, and you keep the award.
